Updated the 2024 Poverty in Fairfax County-Falls Church Area Infographic. This interactive infographic provides an overview of poverty in Fairfax County and the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church. In 2024, 83,212 individuals were living below the poverty line, with an overall poverty rate of 6.9%, an increase of 2,621 individuals from 2023.
Changes in poverty rates varied across demographic groups, with a slight increase among white residents and a more noticeable increase among those identifying as two or more races. The visualization provides detailed poverty data by age, gender, race/ethnicity, employment status, living arrangements and other key demographic characteristics. The visualization is prepared by the Economic, Demographic and Statistical Research (EDSR) Unit within the Department of Management and Budget.
