This edition of Mature Living focuses on Seniors Who Sing. Hundreds of seniors in our area participate in some form of singing. They sing in chorales, barbershop choruses, jazz trios, and some even sing solo. Their songs range from holiday church favorites and patriotic tunes to timeless Irish melodies and even rock and roll!
On this episode of Mature Living we’ll talk to a few of these singers and explore how singing can improve your health and well-being at any age. During the first part of the show, Jeanne Kelly, Founder and Artistic Director of Encore Creativity for Older adults, discusses the variety of Encore Chorales in our region. The mid-show segment features The Harmony Heritage Singers, a local barbershop ensemble.
In the second part of the show we talk to George Lewett, a local Irish singer, and Nancy Riley, a jazz vocalist with the Tallwood Trio group. Find service, recreation, and community engagement information for older adults at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/olderadults or call 703-324-7948.
