Discrimination
Housing discrimination is the unfair treatment of a person in housing because of a protected characteristic such as race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, disability, elderliness, sexual orientation, gender identity, military status, source of funds, or marital status. Fair housing laws also prohibit retaliation against individuals who file a complaint, participate in an investigation, or assist others in exercising their fair housing rights.
Any FCRHA/HCD resident or applicant who wishes to report a housing discrimination issue or retaliation, either by staff or contractors of the FCRHA or HCD, or by another housing provider should notify the FCRHA of their discrimination complaint by contacting DHCDFairHousing@Fairfaxcounty.gov.
Additionally, a housing discrimination complaint may be filed with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Developmentās Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (HUD FHEO) and/or the Fairfax County Office of Human Rights and Equity Programs (OHREP).
