Background:
Mr. Chairman, this year the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild (NVHG), a nonprofit community organization based in Vienna is celebrating its 50th anniversary. An anniversary celebration is scheduled for Sept. 12.

The creative works of the NVHG members can be found in homes and businesses throughout the region and across the country. NVHG promotes the development of artists and craftspeople in our community and provides expertise on operating a small business. In addition, their community support includes generous donations to local charitable organizations and scholarships to high school students interested in pursuing the arts in college.

Motion:
Mr. Chairman, without objection, I ask that the Board direct staff to invite members of the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild to come before the Board at the Aug. 2 Board meeting to be acknowledged for their contributions to our community.
