Joint Board Matter With Chairman McKay and Supervisors Foust and Palchik

Our offices have heard from numerous residents who have expressed concerns with how few public meetings have been held to discuss the 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension, or NEXT, project.

Recognizing that COVID-19 has made public meetings difficult, we still believe there are ample means to collect more public input prior to making any decisions about this major project.

Therefore, we move that the Board direct the County’s Department of Transportation to draft a letter, to be signed by the Chairman, to VDOT requesting more citizen public information and comment sessions. Further technical input on the project itself will come before our Board at our next meeting.
