Board Matter April 14, 2026
Background: Mr. Chairman and colleagues, I am inviting you all to attend the sixth annual Tour de Hunter Mill bike event on Sunday, May 3. There will be two routes for this community bike ride: a short ride and a long ride.

There is a route for every ability. Each year, we also feature new routes to give riders a fresh view and highlight bike friendly areas across the district.
This year the tour will begin and end at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, and we’ll explore Vienna's scenic, bike-friendly neighborhoods and green spaces. We'll wind past local parks, check out the I-66 and Route 7 trails with their seamless transit connections and discover the hidden back roads that lead all the way to the iconic Wolf Trap Performing Arts Center.
More information about the ride may be found on the Tour de Hunter Mill webpage. Registration is now open.
As an incentive to register, you’ll get a pair of our always-popular branded bike socks which this year are tie-dyed.
I also want to thank the many individuals and organizations whose assistance make the Tour de Hunter Mill possible, including the Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling, Reston Community Center, NOVA Parks, Town of Vienna and the Vienna and Fairfax County Police departments.
Motion: Therefore, Mr. Chairman, I ask without objection that the Office of Public Affairs provide promotional support for the 2026 Tour de Hunter Mill, including in the county’s weekly newsletters, on the county’s homepage, and on social media.
