1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Is Now Online

This early literacy program from the library can help your child succeed in school — and it’s now online!

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is designed to help caregivers prepare children for one of life’s big milestones: entering kindergarten and starting their academic career.

The goal is to read your child 1,000 books before they enter kindergarten. If you read just one book each night, you will read about 365 books in one year — that’s 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years. Reading unique titles or reading a child’s favorite book multiple times (we know children like repetition!) all count toward the goal of 1,000.

Sign up and start logging your books online with Beanstack to track your child’s progress and earn prizes. For more information, visit our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten guide, ask staff at your local branch, or email wwwlib@fairfaxcounty.gov.
