On May 9, 2017, the Pohick Regional Library achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Pohick Regional Library is an integral part of the Burke community, located 2 miles from the Fairfax County Parkway at the corner of Old Keene Mill and Sydenstricker Roads. One of the Fairfax County Public Library's busiest branches, the Pohick Regional Library circulates nearly one million items with a collection of approximately 135,000 volumes. The Pohick Regional Library's loyal community volunteers provide an amazing level of support for their branch with over 5,000 hours of service annually. The Friends of the Pohick Regional Library enhance library service to our community by generously donating their time and funding for a wide array of items. The Friends hold two large book sales a year as well as an ongoing book sale located in the lobby.
We offer programs for children of all ages including preschool, children and young adults with collections to support those ages. Pohick also has a Teen Gaming Center with Xbox and PlayStation consoles with many games to choose from. A new early literacy station has also been added to our kids’ reading areas. Our meeting rooms are available for nonprofit community groups. For those looking for a quiet place to study, we have a Quiet Study room. Small individual desks are located around the perimeter of the building conveniently located next to outlets for Wi-Fi and other users.
Pohick has a Maker Lab called The POD. The POD is a combined workshop and classroom where customers can learn, discover, and explore. It's a place where you can learn new skills, work on fun projects, and connect with other makers in your community. In the POD we offer such things as sewing, knitting, quilting, 3D printing, paper crafts and more.
