By Rabinder Singh, Adult Programming Assistant

It won’t be a surprise for anybody to learn that fall is full of holidays. Just counting the well-known and widely celebrated ones, it seems as though we are celebrating something each week. However, if you count all the smaller holidays and observances that have cropped up over the years, you can find something to celebrate every day.

Don’t believe us? Check out some of this season’s fun festivities and books you can read to help you celebrate them!

National Read a Book Day – Sept. 6
Love to read? Then this day is for you! Have fun, relax and read more by checking out these books:

  • White Cat, Black Dog by Kelly Link
Kelly Link spins classic fairy tales into original stories of characters on the hunt for love, connection, revenge or their own sense
    of purpose.

  • The Eden Test by Adam Sternbergh
A couple navigating a rough patch in their marriage signs up for the Eden Test, a weeklong retreat for couples to have a fresh start. But they’re both keeping secrets, and the Test pushes them further than they had anticipated.

National Pet Bird Day – Sept. 17
This holiday is for the birds, literally! Founded by the Bird Enjoyment & Advantage Koalition (BEAK) in 2016, it began as an effort to grow bird ownership. Thinking about getting one of your own? Take a look at these reads.

National Pumpkin Spice Day – Oct. 1
Whether it’s in your coffee or in your pie, pumpkin can be enjoyed any time of year, but it is especially popular in the fall. Celebrate this beloved mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves by discovering pumpkin-themed cooks and crafts.

  • Pumpkin Recipes compiled by Publications International, Ltd.
