Library Cards for Educators

By Amy Dargart-Stewart, FCPL Early Literacy Services Assistant

Special Borrowing Privileges for Teachers

As part of its commitment to the academic success of teachers and students in Fairfax County, FCPL offers a special library card to all preschool through post-secondary public and private school teachers, as well as homeschool parents and guardians teaching in Fairfax County or the City of Fairfax.

With this Educator Library Card, educators can keep books for an extended loan time of six weeks and borrow up to 30 items at a time. Damaged or lost fees do apply. The cards expire annually on June 30 and may be renewed if the account is free of fines, fees and overdue materials. If not renewed, the cards are removed from the library’s system one year after the expiration date.

How Do I Get an Educator Library Card?

Bring to any FCPL branch proof of your address and educator status. Acceptable proof of educator status includes official school identification, homeschool certification or preschool verification.
