Young adult novella recommendations

By Anne Sinclair, Youth Services Manager, Dolley Madison Library
Sometimes, we just can’t get enough of a good book and need something – anything – to take us back. So, it’s a great day when an author pens a novella, which is an addendum to their primary works.

Take a break this chilly afternoon with a YA novella revisiting the worlds we love:

  • The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas
Celaena takes on mission after mission in these five novellas to Throne of Glass.

  • Broken Throne by Victoria Aveyard
The immersive experience of the Red Queen in five novellas and extras.

  • Death and Night by Roshani Chokshi
Death and Night’s story begins before The Star-Touched Queen.

  • Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi
Warner, leader of Sector 45, deals with the fallout of Shatter Me in the first of five novellas.

  • Glitter & Doom by Bethany Griffin
What happened to April after Masque of the Red Death?

  • Love, Creekwood by Becky Albertalli
Simon, Blue, Abby and Leah head into their first year of college.

  • Mitosis by Brandon Sanderson
Back in the world of Epics in this story of David and the Reckoners.

  • Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher
Told in three-parts, Charlize and Silas forget everything and must start over.

  • The Prince/The Guard/The Queen/The Favorite by Kiera Cass
Through the eyes of the prince, the queen, the guard and the best friend, The Selection series unfolds.
