In 2020, Fairfax County Public Library expanded its Summer Reading to include children of all ages. Reading logs are now made available not only for school-age kids and teens, but also for our youngest patrons: birth through rising kindergarteners. Caregivers or older children can read fifteen books to them, complete fifteen challenges with them, or any combination of the two from June 12 to August 14, 2020.
Summer reading log “game boards” are divided into three milestones, and at each milestone readers can be entered into a random drawing for an Amazon e-gift card. Game boards can be found online in the Research Center guide to the Summer Reading Adventure. If you need book recommendations, contact our staff with the Ask Your Library online chat service or visit the Early Literacy Resource Center at research.fairfaxcounty.gov/early-literacy.
