Fairfax County to Share 2026 Roadway Restriping Proposals; Virtual Community Meeting Series Planned for September and October

painted crosswalk
The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will host a series of online meetings starting Sept. 23 and concluding Oct. 13 to discuss proposals for restriping some roadways to include bicycle lanes and marked crosswalks where possible. Meetings will cover district-specific proposed bike lanes and crosswalk improvements, with some neighboring districts combining meeting dates

The proposed striping improvements are planned to coincide with the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) 2026 Repaving Program. FCDOT is sharing these proposals well in advance of the 2026 repaving season to allow ample time for community input, finalizing striping plans and improving coordination with VDOT. Virtual meetings have been scheduled to review these proposals by district and participants may join online or by phone.
