For Immediate Release
Jan. 15, 2025
The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will host a virtual public meeting on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at 7 p.m., to discuss a proposal to reconfigure Prosperity Avenue in the Providence District. The proposed road diet will repurpose two of the four lanes of vehicle traffic between Hilltop Road and Gallows Road by adding protected bike lanes.
The goal of the project is to increase multimodal access to the Dunn Loring Metrorail Station, and project design was funded through the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government's (MWCOG) Transit Within Reach program. Other benefits of road diets include safety improvements, traffic calming, and better mobility access for all road users.
Staff from FCDOT will present proposed changes, provide additional information on road diets, answer questions and listen to feedback at the meeting.
