Are you a Fairfax County business ready to take your sustainability efforts to the next level? Fairfax County’s Office of Environmental and Energy Coordination and Department of Transportation will host a joint webinar later this month to showcase how businesses can benefit from the services and resources offered by the Best Workplaces for Commuters and Green Business Partners programs.
“From Commutes to Carbon Footprints: A Joint Webinar with Green Business Partners and Best Workplaces for Commuters” is June 22 from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and registration is now open!
Through the Green Business Partners program, Fairfax County is recognizing and supporting businesses actively engaging in or interested in business practices that advance climate action and will help create a carbon-neutral economy. The program celebrates current leaders in this field, shares resources like grants or other incentives, and gives a platform for learning through peer exchange.
Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC), a Fairfax County Commuter Services program, has garnered national recognition by offering services, incentives and perks to employers who excel in implementing green commuter programs. These include:
- Ridesharing
- Biking and Walking
- Teleworking
- Alternative Work Schedules
During the webinar, attendees will hear the benefits of both programs and how they can opt-in to the Green Business Partners program as part of their BWC application.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Local employers, including companies, non-profit organizations, government agencies, military, retail, hospitality, and service industry providers who are implementing environmentally friendly business practices, including easing the burden of commuting on their workforce through multi-modal transportation and alternative options.
SPEAKERS
Theresa McMullin works with Fairfax County Commuter Services (FCCS) as part of the consultant team specializing in Employer Outreach, leading the efforts to assist employers in implementing and enhancing Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs to serve their employees' commute needs. Theresa has supported the growth of commuter programs around Fairfax County, including assisting hundreds of employers with their commuter programs and helping over 50 employers gain the Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) recognition. Ms. McMullin holds an M.A. Ed from The College of William and Mary and a B.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University; she currently serves on the board of the Chesapeake Chapter of the Association for Commuter Transportation.
Neely Law, PhD, Community Specialist, Office of Environmental and Energy Coordination. Neely has worked in the environmental field for more than 20 years focusing on urban and watershed planning, stormwater management, stream restoration, climate and sustainability. Neely has diverse work experience to include program development and implementation, project management, workforce development, data collection monitoring and analysis and leading report and peer-review publications. She has worked collaboratively with local, state and federal partners to find innovative solutions that address economic, environmental and social of urban ecological systems. She is the co-manager of the Green Business Partners program.
