Making the most dramatic pledge to fund transportation improvements since the 1980s, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved $1.4 billion (January 28, 2014) in transportation project priorities over the next six years.
This money—the majority of which will come from the state and regional sources—will go towards new and existing roads, sidewalks, trails, and bike lanes. There are approximately 180 projects that will be funded, not including reserve funding for other projects. The county will be developing schedules for each project in the coming months.
