Project Description

This project will construct a new 6-foot-wide sidewalk, ADA compliant curb ramps and a 6-foot-wide landscape panel along the south side of Columbia Pike from Backlick Road to Tom Davis Drive. Streetscape elements will be implemented based on feasibility and funding availability. A new high visibility crosswalk is proposed for installation at Tom Davis Drive to connect the new sidewalk to the existing pedestrian facilities on the north side of Columbia Pike. Construction of the proposed improvements will require right-of-way acquisition and utility relocations.
Project Background
The Columbia Pike Complete Streets Phase I Project is located in Annandale’s Central Business and Community Revitalization Overlay District. The project was created as a result of the Columbia Pike Pedestrian and Bicycle Study (May 2018), which indicated the need for updating pedestrian and bicycle access along the corridor. The project will complete a missing sidewalk gap and provide connectivity between commercial areas on the north and south sides of Columbia Pike within the project limits.
