This project provides a continuous third travel lane and pedestrian walkway on northbound Lee Highway from Legato Road to Shirley Gate Road, as well as a dedicated right turn lane on south bound Lee Highway from Stevenson Drive to Waples Mill Road.

Additional improvements include:

• signal modification/relocation at five intersections,
• extension of the existing box culvert, and
• construction of two bio-filter BMPs to address the stormwater management requirements of the project.

Multiple overhead and underground utility relocations were required to accommodate the proposed improvements. View an aerial image of the project here. 

The construction contract for the this project was awarded to Fort Myer Construction Corporation. Notice to proceed for roadway construction was issued to the contractor on August 18, 2015. The project was substantially completed on November 14, 2017.
