FREE 72-Hour DBHDS In-Person Peer Recovery Specialist Training Application Deadline

LEARN: How YOUR recovery experiences can uniquely assist individuals with mental health challenges, substance use disorders or both.

RESIDENCY QUALIFICATIONS

Open to residents of Northern Virginia with priority going to residents of Fairfax County, Falls Church City and Fairfax City

Seeking Applicants Who Have…

A high school diploma or GED;
The willingness to undertake a course of study leading to a career as a Peer Recovery Specialist;
Ability to work as part of a team with peer supporters, clinicians, and other behavioral health stakeholders; and
At least one year of recovery from a mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorder or be a family member of someone dealing with these challenges.

Step 1: Go to the Virginia Peer Recovery Specialist (VAPRS) Portal and set up an account on the VAPRS website. Deadline is Monday, January 6, 2025!

Step 2: Go to the VAPRS Portal Training Application Selection page and follow the instructions to fill out the application. Register for Training ID #1714 and answer all required questions. Be sure to read the Criminal Background Acknowledgement in the application carefully as it contains important information for those who have been justice-involved.

Those whose applications have been accepted will be interviewed by the Trainer, Cynthia Evans. Selected Trainees will be notified Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
