Herndon Monroe P&R Fairfax Connector Service Temporarily Relocated Due to Bus Loop Construction

Beginning September 23 through November 2019, Fairfax Connector bus service at the Herndon Monroe Park and Ride will be relocated to a temporary stop on Sunrise Valley Drive.

Stop ID #4041 for Routes 401 & 402 Will be Missed Due to Construction at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus

Due to a temporary detour, bus stop ID #4041 will not be served from 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, through Sunday, Aug. 11. Please use the temporary bus stop, which includes overhead shelter and seating, located on Wilmot Way near Woodburn Road for boarding and exiting your bus.


Fairfax Connector Bus Service at Huntington Metrorail Station Temporarily Moved

Three Fairfax Connector bus routes at the Huntington Metrorail Station are temporarily moved due to ongoing construction:

Route 101 – Change at Huntington Metrorail Station
Beginning Thursday, 6/13/2019, Route 101 eastbound will pick-up and drop-off at Huntington North bus bay C until further notice due to ongoing construction.

Route 310 – Changes at Huntington Metrorail Station
Due to overnight closure of Huntington Metrorail Station North bus loop from 6/10-6/29/2019, Route 310 passengers should board on westbound Huntington Avenue at Metroview Pkwy (Bust stop ID# 2425) between the hours of midnight and 4 a.m.

Route 171 – Changes at Huntington Metrorail Station
Due to overnight closure of Huntington Metrorail Station North bus loop from 6/10/2019-6/29/2019, Route 171 passengers should board along Huntington Avenue Southbound Bay G/H between the hours of midnight and 4 a.m.

Stop ID #3566 for Routes 951 & 551 Will be Missed Due to Construction at Herndon Metrorail Station

Effective May 16, 2019, until further notice

Due to construction activity at the new Herndon Metrorail Station, Routes 951 & 551 will be missing stop ID# 3566 (Sunrise Valley Drive and Thunder Chase Drive) until further notice. Passengers should go to Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride or use bus stop ID# 3528 (Sunrise Valley Drive and Glade Drive) as alternate.


Herndon-Monroe Parking Relocated to New Herndon Garage Beginning April 8, 2019

Work continues on the Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride facilities in preparation for the new Herndon Metrorail Station and the arrival of Silver Line Phase 2 service. With construction of the new garage nearing completion, work now begins on the existing parking garage. Effective on or around April 8, 2019, the existing parking garage will close for a period of months in order to make necessary improvements. All parking will be relocated to the new garage on Levels 1, 2 and 3.

Bus Stop Notice - Route 574

Due to bus operations related concerns, the timepoints associated with Bus Stops ID# 2657 (Route 7 eastbound) and ID# 2669 (Route 7 westbound) will be removed from the scheduled. Route 574 will still serve these stops but buses may arrive earlier than previously scheduled and will no longer hold at those locations. Passengers boarding Route 574 at other stops along Route 7 may also experience early bus arrivals due to this change. We apologize for the inconvenience.


Route 334 Advisory: Single Route Detour

Effective Jan. 8, 2018, through Fall 2018

To improve connections at the Franconia-Springfield Metro & VRE Station and provide more predictable travel times, Route 334 will operate a single route pattern at all times. Three stops will be missed due to this detour. Bus Stop IDs: 1860, 1862, and 6201.

Routes 321 and 322 Advisory: Bus Stop ID Relocation

Effective Sept. 30, 2017

Bus Stop ID #5162 – Industrial Road @ Commercial Drive - will not be served by Routes 321 and 322 until further notice. Passengers traveling to and from this location can use Bus Stop ID#3859 – Commercial @ E Industrial Road. This stop is located approximately 150 feet north of Industrial Road on the east side of Commercial Drive.

Herndon-Monroe Partial Bus Loop Closure October 29, 2018

Due to the installation of a new stair tower, the Herndon-Monroe bus loop will be closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays. Fairfax Connector and Metrobus will use bays closer to the garage under construction or the temporary bus stop at the entrance to the park and ride facility on Sunrise Valley Drive. All service and bus stop locations before 10 a.m. and after 3 p.m. will not be affected. Work is expected to take place through January 2018.

Herndon-Monroe Garage Re-striping Work

Portions of the Herndon-Monroe Garage will be closed beginning October 1. Pavement re-striping will be occurring in multiple locations and drive lanes and parking spaces will be re-striped in a new configuration. Accessible parking spaces will be relocated to new areas on the first floor.

To ensure the safety of commuters who are ridesharing, including carpooling and slugging, pick up and drop-off areas have been relocated.

The sidewalk adjacent to the old surface lot will be closed until the new garage is completed. Vehicle access will be restricted to one lane into the complex. Pedestrians should use the temporary sidewalk for the duration of the project. Click on the image below to enlarge.
