In-Person Early Voting

What You Need to Know

  • In-person early voting is available 45 days before elections held in Fairfax County.  On this page you will find dates, times, and locations for In-person Early Voting in the June 17, 2025 Democratic Primary.
  • Only Fairfax County registered voters may vote at any Fairfax County early voting location. 
  • Voters must present an acceptable ID or may sign an ID Confirmation Statement.
  • Curbside voting is available for eligible voters.
  • Absentee by mail voters may vote early in person if they choose. If you received a ballot in the mail, you must bring it with you and surrender it to vote in person. If you received a ballot but do not bring it with you, you may vote a provisional ballot. Mail ballot drop boxes are available during early voting location operating hours.
  • Same-day registration is available starting 3 weeks before election day at early voting locations. Voters submitting a same-day registration will vote a provisional ballot.

FAQs

In-person early voting is available 45 days before elections held in Fairfax County. Check back for locations and schedules for Early Voting in future elections. Unlike election day voting, when voters must vote in their precinct, during early voting, any Fairfax County voter may vote at any Fairfax County early voting location.

No. Any voter registered in Fairfax County may vote early. Students registered in Fairfax County may return from school in another county or state to vote early.

However, to vote normally, you will need to provide your name and address and present an acceptable ID, just as you would at your polling place on election day. If you don’t have an acceptable ID, you may complete an ID Confirmation Statement, which serves as an acceptable ID and will allow you to check in and vote routinely. Alternately, you may vote a provisional ballot and provide a copy of your ID to the Office of Elections before noon on the Friday after the election.

Your ballot is counted when you feed it into the digital scan voting machine. However, the votes on the voting machines are not tallied until election day and are not reported until after 7 p.m. on election night.

No, an absentee ballot application is not used for in-person early voting.
