The recognition celebrates the chapter’s legacy of sisterhood and service, and Lambda Kappa Omega’s 325 members have contributed greatly to community through its educational, training, social and economic development programs.
“I’m so happy to see you all here and thank you so much for your service to the community,” Alcorn said who requested this recognition. “Several of those things were mentioned in the resolution, but I know you do so much more. And it’s truly appreciated.”
As recognized in the board’s resolution, the chapter’s contributions to the community have spanned the past 50 years when it was founded.
“Since that time, we’ve adopted schools, provided backpacks, school supplies, after-school and weekend meals,” said Lambda Kappa Chapter President Marcia Morris. “We partner with our foundation to award over $300,000 in college and medical school funding. We adopt families during the holidays and provide donations to shelters. I could stand here for hours talking about what we do, but I’ll just say that we strive to provide impactful and lasting service that is sustainable."
