Come out for a fantastic activity-packed day at Colvin Run Mill on May 20, from noon to 3 p.m. Explore 19th century engineering and observe the mill in operation. Jump back in history and meet Oliver Evans and several of his assistants as they talk of Oliver’s invention of the mill’s patented operating system. You can also hear nautical engineering reenactors talk about the science of shipbuilding and navigation in the 1800s.

Then jump back to the 21st century and try your hand at using simple machines; talk with real engineers; investigate engineering and the design process; make your own park and build a waterwheel; move water uphill using an Archimedean Screw; and conduct experiments with electrical circuits. There’s something for everyone!
