The Fairfax County Park Authority 2024 Healthy Strides raceMay the 4th Be With You! — will be held:

  • When: 6:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024
  • Where: Burke Lake Park, 7315 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, Va. 22039

Volunteers Needed!

Healthy Strides Community Classes

Virtual Community Fitness Classes

Join some of your favorite Rec Center instructors for livestreamed fitness classes. We’re adding new times and formats to our schedule and can now stream with music!

Healthy Strides is excited to offer virtual classes in fitness, nutrition and diabetes care. Healthy Strides Community classes are LIVE and FREE. The schedule is posted below.  

 

Joining a class is easy. Follow these simple steps to join: 

  1. Check out the schedule below to see which class(es) you want to join.
  2. Come back to this web page on the day and time of the class and click the class title to participate. You will be directed to Zoom to join the class. (See below for detailed instructions on how to join a Zoom meeting.)
  3. Remember to use your best virtual etiquette. Mute yourself, and use the chat box to ask questions. 
  4. HSCC classes are only held during rec center hours. Holiday hours may be different and could impact your class. If a rec center is closed due to weather, your class can still be held. Holiday Hours and Class Schedules

Directions for Attending a Zoom Class

Notes:

  • The steps below may be slightly different depending on the device you are using.
  • You do not need a Zoom account to join the class, and you do not need to Sign In if prompted.
  • You may test your device and familiarize yourself with Zoom prior to the class by going to https://zoom.us/test.

From a desktop or laptop computer:

  • Click on the link for the class you want to take.
  • If you already have the Zoom Meetings application installed, you will be prompted to open it, otherwise you can install it by clicking the “download and run Zoom” link. If you do not wish to install the Zoom app, you may click the “join from your browser” link instead. For the best experience, we recommend installing the desktop app.
  • Enter your name and the reCaptcha information if prompted, and click Join Meeting.
  • You may be placed into the lobby for a brief period until the host admits you to the class.

From a mobile device (smartphone or tablet):

  • Ensure that you have the Zoom Cloud Meetings app installed. You can install this by searching “zoom” from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Click on the link for the class you want to take.
  • If prompted, click “Open with Zoom”.
  • You may be placed into the lobby for a brief period until the host admits you to the class.

Hybrid Class: This class is broadcast live from a Rec Center and therefore it can also can be taken in person at the facility with membership or daily admission. See the Rec Center group fitness drop-in schedules for more information.
