When newly hired by the County, be sure to sign up for and attend the New Employee Orientation, which will include an overview of your retirement benefits. Registration is handled by the Human Resources Department.
Regarding Service With Other Virginia Retirement Systems
If you have worked for another county or city in Virginia that participates in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS), you may be able to use VRS service credit to purchase service time in the Employees', Police Officers, or Uniformed Retirement System.
