The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will host three in-person meetings to provide and update on the progress of the Richmond Highway BRT and focus on various aspects of the project. Join us in person for a presentation and a time for questions and answers. Spanish translation will be available at the meetings.

You may also visit the website to walk through materials, including the presentation, at your own pace. All meeting materials will be posted on the project website no later than the day after each meeting. 

Branding - Richmond Highway BRT is The One

On Friday, February 25, 2022, the Richmond Highway BRT was officially named when Fairfax County officials launched the brand identity, developed with input from community members and stakeholders over three years. And the name is -- The One! 

This name, colors, and logo will be used at BRT stations and on the buses, to help people recognize and remember the new bus service. There are a few reasons this is the best brand for our new BRT service:

• The One is a short and simple name, so it’s easy to learn and recall.
• The One refers to the place that the buses will run – up and down Route 1 – so everyone in the community can understand its location.
• The name speaks to the uniqueness of the service. If you’re looking for a fast, frequent, traffic-free way to travel along the Richmond Highway Corridor, this is The One way to do it!

Project Background

BRT is a high-quality public transportation system designed to be fast, reliable, and more convenient than traditional richmond Highway mapbus routes. It operates much like rail service, with a dedicated transitway, but uses bus vehicles.

The proposed Richmond  Highway BRT system will have nine stations, constructed in two sections, and will connect to major employment centers, shopping centers, and residential communities along the Richmond Highway corridor, from Huntington Metrorail Station to Fort Belvoir. The project will include pedestrian and bicycle facilities as well as other amenities to support the proposed system. Read more about the project background.
