Safe Streets for All Program

RRFB Reston Town CenterThe ActiveFairfax Transportation Plan project is proposing the development of a comprehensive initiative to address systemic transportation safety issues for people walking, biking and using other forms of active transportation called the Fairfax County Safe Streets for All Program. The draft program recommendations propose a framework of education, policy, planning, and programmatic and design strategies that facilitate collaboration between government and community stakeholders to improve active transportation safety and comfort.

FCDOT staff relied on public input to shape this draft program plan. In spring 2021, community members provided feedback through an online survey and interactive maps, at virtual community meetings, and in-person at food distribution events.
