(Updated Aug. 19, 2026) Project construction is scheduled to begin on Aug. 21, 2026, and substantial project completion is expected in late March 2027.

Project Background

FCDOT plans to add 38 new parking spaces at the Rolling Road VRE Station on Burke Road. Along with adding capacity, the project features:

• replacing existing sidewalk to meet ADA compliance,
• extending the curb along Burke Road to the east to prevent vehicles from parking along the road and in the grass area to the north of the existing parking lot,
• installing an underground stormwater detention structure to allow no increase in runoff from the increased impervious area caused by the project, and
• building a required retaining wall around the Dominion transmission tower at the northeast corner of the existing parking lot. 

The layout is the result of a Feasibility Study completed in May 2017.The stormwater detention system is with collaboration with the Stormwater Planning Division of the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES). The project is funded with County funds.
