The Fairfax General District Court recognizes that approximately a third of individuals with criminal charges have mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders that have contributed to their charges. The goal of the Mental Health Docket, launched in July 2019, is to provide an integrated system of treatment and judicial supervision that results in participant accountability, reduced recidivism and positive participant outcomes. The Mental Health Docket Team works collaboratively to serve participants with serious mental illness in General District Court.
