This edition of Mature Living focuses on “Sharing Our Stories.”
The urge to share our stories is a natural rite of passage for older adults, and it can be a gift to future generations. In the first half of the program, Donna Chandler, a memoir writing instructor and Adrian Hendricks, a memoir writer, discuss the benefits of memoir writing and offer tips on getting started.
In the second half of the show, Janell Blue, president of the Mount Vernon Genealogical Society, and Jim Drewry, publicity chair for that organization, discuss the importance of investigating your family history and offer research tips.
The mid-show portion of our program features Michelle Calhoun Blandburg. She talks about the importance of her father’s memoir which details growing up in n Mississippi and Chicago in the 1930’s as well as his life on the road as a jazz musician in the 1950’s.
