Becoming a foster parent is an important step in helping children in need. One key part of the process is the Mutual Family Assessment, also called a "home study." This is how the Department of Family Services gets to know you, provides training to help you prepare for foster parenting, and checks that your home is a safe environment for a child. Right now, hundreds of children in Fairfax County’s foster care system need a temporary, loving home until they can safely return to their families.
