A federal law enacted in July 2025 made changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid (Medical Assistance). Changes to SNAP eligibility and requirements went into effect at the end of 2025 (more information below). Changes are coming soon to Medicaid, starting October 1, 2026. Medicaid will have eligibility changes for non-citizen adults, a new Work and Community Engagement requirement, reduced retroactive coverage periods, and six-month renewals for certain adults. Learn more about all changes to Medicaid.
