The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority and the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development are working in coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health officials to ensure that essential housing programs and services continue with the utmost regard for the safety of participants and staff.

“There have been many developments over the last 24 hours relative to the county’s response to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19),” said Tom Fleetwood, Director of Fairfax County Housing and Community Development. “Our staff are presently engaged in a countywide effort in creating a multi-phased, tiered approach for adjusting ongoing operations of the agency as this pandemic progresses.”

The health and safety of residents, program participants and staff is our top priority, and we are continuing to consult health professionals for the most current guidance in order to maintain a safe environment for all. Currently, county staff are encouraging all program participants to consider the following:

• Conduct transactions online or over the phone where possible.
   
• Notify staff if you or anyone in your home is showing signs of illness. Maintenance and inspections staff are still conducting home visits to make necessary repairs and complete required inspections. Please notify our staff if there are any in your home who are sick so that our staff may take appropriate precautions or reschedule the service.
   
• If you are sick, please stay home. For those who have scheduled appointments with housing staff, if you are feeling sick, please reach out to those you are meeting with to arrange to reschedule your appointment.
   
• Keep informed. Residents and program participants should remain in regular contact with Fairfax County as a trusted source of information. You can obtain the latest information related to the county’s response to COVID-19:
