The battle of making housing more affordable is more than just focusing on the rent. It includes identifying and connecting residents to resources and programs that can help bring down ancillary housing costs as well – such as the electric bill, water bill, and, in this case, the phone/internet bill.

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is offered through the Federal Communications Commission to help ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare, and more.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

  • Discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service
  • One-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating distributors if participants contribute between $10 and $50 toward the purchase
  • A low-cost service plan that may be fully covered through the ACP

Note: The program is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

A household is eligible for the ACP if the household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if a member of the household meets at least one of the criteria below:

  • Participates in one of these assistance programs:
    • Federal Public Housing Assistance
    • The National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision

    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
