CALL TO ORDER: 

 

Commissioner Chair Crawford called the Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Commission Meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. 

 

Approval of Agenda: It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Malik that the April 1, 2026, agenda be approved as amended. The motion passed by unanimous vote. 

 

Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Elwannas that the minutes of the March 4, 2026, Commission meeting be approved as presented. The motion passed with unanimous vote. 

 

STAFF ISSUES: None. 

 

COMMISSION BUSINESS: 

 

FIR- HRC # 2025044H/ HUD # 03-25-6108-8: McArdle-Coe, Miles v. A.J. Dwoskin & Associates, Inc., et al.: It was moved by Commissioner Shumaker and seconded by Commissioner Malik that the complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Fairfax County Fair Housing Act has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP. The motion passed by unanimous vote. 

 

FIR- HRC # 2025243H/ HUD # 03-26-6479-8: Kabade, Rajendra v. Camden Summit Partnership, LP, et al.It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Malik that the complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Fairfax County Fair Housing Act has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP. The motion passed by unanimous vote. 

 

COMMUNITY CONCERNS: 

 

Fair Housing Month Event: Fair Housing Manager Deanda Shelton informed the Commission about the upcoming event; she will send out more information as the event gets closer. 

 

Virginia Remote Access Medical (RAM) Free Medical Clinic: Commissioner Malik informed the Commission that there will be a free clinic taking place on April 18 and 19, 2026. Commissioner Malik will send information about the event to the Commissioners via email. 

 

Virginia Commission for the Arts: Commissioner Salinas asked if Ms. Shelton spoke with Tim Zhao, a member of the Board for the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Commissioner Salinas explained that Mr. Zhao is interested in partnering with OHREP with outreach activities through the arts. Ms. Shelton stated she would contact Mr. Zhao soon to discuss a potential partnership. 

 

PENDING BUSINESS: 

 

Fair Housing Task Force: Commissioner Crawford thanked Commissioners who attended the Task Force’s meeting. Commissioner Crawford will send information about the Task Force to the Commissioners and asked Commissioners to consider attending Task Force Meetings and serving on the Task Force. 

 

Commission Flyer: Commissioner Crawford discussed creating a flyer for the Commission to distribute to the public. Commissioner Crawford and Commissioner Shumaker will work with OHREP to create a flyer. 

 

NEW BUSINESS: Commissioner Supinger announced she will be leaving the commission and that tonight will be her last meeting.
