Background:

Chairman, I am very proud to announce that the South Lakes High School Seahawk Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Drill Team finished 1st in the Armed Division at the Army’s JROTC Regional Best of the Best Drill Competition held in North Carolina on March 18. The team will advance to the Army’s National Drill Competition to be held in Daytona Beach, FL on May 5, 2023. We have a long history of Fairfax County residents serving in the military, and in this case preparing for military service. This tradition continues for these JROTC cadets who are also excelling at a high level.

Therefore, Mr. Chairman, I ask that the Office of Public Affairs prepare a certificate of recognition for the South Lakes High School JROTC Battalion to be presented at an upcoming Board meeting or at South Lakes High School.
