Meet Fairfax County’s Building Official and Building Division Director Jay Riat during our Building Safety Month Open House at Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, Sunday, May 22, 2 - 4 p.m.

  • Fairfax County staff, including Land Development Services building inspectors, plan reviewers, and permit technicians, will be on hand to demonstrate online tools and applications, answer questions and provide information and direction. Their goal is the same as yours: ensure your entire home is safe for your family and guests.
  • Learn when building permits are needed, how to apply for permits, what plans are needed for residential building projects, and other land development-related tips.
  • Get tips and guidance for the popular home improvement projects including decks, plumbing fixtures, gas appliances and finished basements.
