Fairfax County Commuter Services (FCCS), a program of the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will help kickoff the national campaign for next year’s “Best Workplaces for Commuters” (BWC) at a webinar on June 1, 2023, at 3 p.m. Marcus Moore, FCDOT Transportation Planner and Transportation Demand Management Liaison, will talk about the Commuter Services program and why more than a hundred employers in Fairfax County have garnered national recognition by offering services, incentives and perks to their employees who commute.
The webinar will feature Maria Lashinger, P.E., P.T.O.E., principal at Gorove Slade, an engineering and planning firm headquartered in Fairfax. In addition to planning transportation projects, the firm encourages their employees to use alternative modes of transportation when getting to work by offering pre-tax commuter benefits and telework options. The webinar will be moderated by Julie Bond, program manager for the Best Workplaces for Commuters program, part of the University of South Florida’s Center for Urban Transportation Research.
“We look forward to participating in this program to recruit the next class of ‘Best Workplaces for Commuters’ honorees,” says FCDOT’s Marcus Moore. “Through the BWC program, Fairfax County has been able to spotlight forward-thinking companies who are dedicated to reducing single-occupancy trips in the region. This program has been a win-win not only for organizations and their employees, but also the environment and anyone who commutes in the National Capital area.”
Local employers, including companies, non-profit organizations, government agencies, military, retail, hospitality and service industry providers who are interested in learning more about easing the burden of commuting on their workforce are invited to attend the Zoom webinar.
