As students across Fairfax County get ready for a new school year, the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) wants families to know that help is available. School can bring stress, new challenges and big changes, and our youth programs are here to support teens and caregivers. We offer several services that can make the school year healthier and easier.

Youth & Family Services Overview
Our Youth & Family team offers many kinds of support. Families can get therapy, psychiatric care and help finding other resources. Our staff works with young people and their caregivers to improve communication, build coping skills and support long-term well-being. We partner with families so they never feel like they have to face challenges alone.
Youth & Family Services support children and teens ages 3 to 18. For transitional aged young people who are still in need of services, they may be eligible through age 22.
CSB also offers support in many languages. Some staff members speak multiple languages at our community locations and at YMAT clinics. The CSB Entry & Referral Call Center can take calls in English and Spanish, and telephone translation services are available for other languages when needed.
Youth Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid and Substance Use
Youth Medication-Assisted Treatment, or YMAT, is the use of FDA-approved medicine in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies to treat substance use disorders and prevent opioid overdose. YMAT is available for people 12 -22 years. After age 22, our team will help make the transition to adult services.
YMAT also offers peer support. A trained young adult is available to talk with teens, listen and share helpful ideas. This peer support happens along with counseling and other services, giving teens someone who understands what they’re going through.
CSB Clinicians in Fairfax County Public Schools
Some CSB clinicians work directly inside Fairfax County Public Schools. This helps students get support without needing to leave school or travel for an appointment. It also helps school staff and CSB work closely together.
This year, we are adding one more school-based clinician so more students can get care where they already are every day.
Turning Point Program
Turning Point is an early-intervention program for older teens and young adults who may be experiencing the first signs of psychosis. The program provides therapy, medication support, case management and skills to help individuals stay involved in school, work and daily activities.
Turning Point also offers peer support for families. Families can connect with another family that has gone through similar experiences. This can help parents and caregivers feel understood and hopeful.
