Fairfax County is home to thousands of federal workers and contractors affected by workforce reductions. If you have been impacted by these changes, this page provides resources to support you and your family during your career transition. New resources will be added to address evolving needs.

Employment Resources

Employment transitions can feel overwhelming. Fairfax County Employment Services ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠offers many resources to help federal workers and contractors explore new opportunities and advance their careers. From starting your initial job search to securing the spot with a strong interview, we are here to support you through your next step and beyond.

Job seekers can access various resources and services through our career centers.

Services include: 

  • Career exploration services
  • Resume writing and interviewing assistance
  • Labor market review
  • Career assessments

Eligible federal dislocated workers and contractors also have access to workforce development services to support their career transitions through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Supports include individualized career coaching, occupational training, job development, and more.

Additional resources are currently available through Talent Up Northern Virginia and Rapid Response funding to help federal dislocated workers enrolled in WIOA accelerate their career opportunities. 

If you are a federal worker or contractor affected by recent federal workforce actions, complete an interest form and a staff member will contact you to share more information.
