Birmingham Green Nursing Home Named One of America's Best Nursing Homes 2025 by Newsweek

The Northern Virginia Health Care Commission (NVHCC), known as Birmingham Green Nursing Home, is pleased to announce that it is ranked the number one nursing home in Northern Virgnia on the list of America’s Best Nursing Homes 2025 by Newsweek magazine. It is ranked the number two nursing home in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Serving residents of Northern Virginia who need long-term care, but do not necessarily have the personal resources to afford the services, Birmingham Green provides dignified, caring assistance to its residents.

“Birmingham Green is committed to providing person-centered care that is both accessible and tailored to the unique needs of each individual we serve,” said Trina Mayhan-Webb, board chair of Birmingham Green and director of the Division of Adult and Aging in the Fairfax County Department of Family Services. “To be named as one of the best nursing homes in the country is a reflection of the dedicated team of certified nurses, therapists, and caregivers who are unwavering in their support of the residents and uphold the highest standards of quality and excellence in care.”

Birmingham Green, Willow Oaks Assisted Living Facility, and District Home Assisted Living -all located on the same campus, are all recipients of the American Health Care Association National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA NCAL) quality awards.  The award program is a rigorous process that evaluates an organization’s capabilities against the nationally recognized standards for performance excellence - Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. This prestigious award recognizes providers across the nation for their improved quality outcomes for staff, residents, and individuals with disabilities in long-term and post-acute care.

Birmingham Green is a cooperative venture of the counties of Prince William, Fairfax, Loudoun, Fauquier, and the City of Alexandria, located on 54 acres of land in Manassas, VA. A plan for creating a home where persons of low income, frail, and elderly could live and thrive first originated in 1918 and was written into the laws of the Commonwealth. Today, the campus – notably named Birmingham Green – is comprised of the 30-bed District Home Assisted Living facility, the 180-bed Northern Virginia Health Care Commission facility providing nursing and rehab services, and Willow Oaks Assisted Living, a 92-unit facility offering additional assisted living services.
