Misdemeanor Continuances
- File in person, by phone, or by email at least 2 business days prior to court for review. If a private citizen is the complainant, their written consent to the continuance must be submitted with the request. It is your responsibility to call back the next business day to confirm whether your request was granted or denied. You may also check online at www.vacourts.gov after noon the next business day to view the status of your case.
- If court is less than 2 business days, you must file a motion by 8:30am in the clerk's office, room 204. Motions will be heard at 9:00am.
Felony Continuances
- Commonwealth Attorney's office must consent on court's continuance form (below) and must be reviewed by a judge for approval.
- If Commonwealth Attorney does not consent, a motion must be filed.
