GCAR (GDC Courtroom 2A Reservations)

The GCAR application will be accessible here on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026.

GCAR User Guide

Key Information:

  • All civil filing reservations by attorneys or law firms must be made through GCAR. The Clerk's Office will no longer accept reservations by phone or email.
  • GCAR will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, allowing counsel to make reservations outside of normal business hours.
  • The system will display only those court dates with availability corresponding to the number of filings indicated in the reservation request.
  • The Clerk's Office will use GCAR to monitor firm filings. Reservations that exceed the Court's allowable capacity will be returned to the submitting firm via USPS. There will be no other notice provided prior to the return.
  • Civil filers will be able to track their existing reservations.
  • Continuances in 2A court may NOT be scheduled for a date the firm has already reached the maximum number of reserved filings. Another court date must be selected.
  • All reservations will be made under the Firm Name. Each attorney or staff member will register individually in GCAR (upon first use) and associate their account with their firm.
  • Firms that file frequently with the Court will be preloaded into GCAR prior to implementation to facilitate initial registration and use.

Questions and concerns about GCAR can be directed to GDCMail@fairfaxcounty.gov.

Transition Period:
Please note that a brief transition period will occur from Thursday, April 30th through Tuesday, May 5th, during which the Clerk’s Office will be unable to accept civil filing reservations. During this time, existing reservation data will be migrated into the new system.
Users are encouraged to review the GCAR User Guide in advance to ensure a smooth transition.
