Congrats and thanks to Linda Moore who retired from a long career in Fairfax County this past spring and continues actively volunteering with Volunteer Solutions and other organizations! She gathered a generous number of towel donations and delivered them for our holiday project, and delivered other items throughout the year, too, among other roles.

A client -who is in her eighties- appreciates her 28-year-old volunteer, Miguel Flores Portillo, who drives her to stores, helps her with her shopping as needed and helps her pick up the big bags of dog food for her pup.

Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Zhang who visited with a Chinese-speaking client for 8 weeks before he moved out of the area. The volunteer shared that the client had a similar personality to her grandfather, and it was “great to talk to someone who reminds me of him. I enjoyed my experience very much!” We’re sure the client gained a lot from the interactions as well.

A client shared how much he appreciates getting a call every Sunday from volunteer Jessica Meyer. He recently left a message saying what a great program this is and how much he looks forward to calls each week. “I’ve been so happy with this program.”
