🪥🧼🫧 Foster parents understand that placements can happen any time, day or night, without much warning. That means there’s little time to gather the essentials a child needs to feel comfortable in a new home.
With the closure of the Foster the Family D.C. Virginia office, many families have felt the loss of tangible support. So, Fairfax County Foster Care and Adoption is starting a new ✨Care Package & Luggage Support✨ initiative for children entering foster care and the families that care for them.
What You Need to Know
- Care packages help fill a short-term urgent need for age-appropriate supplies for the child(ren) being placed in the foster home.
- Resource workers will provide care packages to foster families at the time of a new placement to offer comfort and immediate support.
- Care packages are available for other key transitions (e.g., moves to group homes, residential facilities, or kinship homes).
- Care Packages may include hygiene items, comfort items, small coloring/activity supplies, haircare items, personal clothing), useful resources for foster parents.
How to Help
Fairfax County Foster Care and Adoption could not offer this support without the help of the community. If you would like to become a donor and help support children and foster parents, get more information online or go directly to our online wish list to see desired supplies.
