During the first two weeks of October, each of the five Health Department Clinics welcomed teams of Fairfax County Public School family liaisons for tours and Q & A sessions.

Health Department staff provided information on how community members can access services, as well as an overview of what public health services are available. Family liaisons met health clinic staff, learned about their roles, and received a step-by-step walk-thru of a clinic appointment.

"In many ways, family liaisons are on the front lines of public health. They are connecting student families to all types of resources including medical services. So, it was really special for us to be able to host the staff at our clinics, and facilitate more connections to public health resources," said Kirsten Buchner, outreach specialist and organizer of the event.

Family liaisons are invaluable partners with the Fairfax County Health Department. They serve as critical links to connect families with information and community resources, including vital health services.
