On September 10, Afghan Home, a nonprofit organization dedicated to welcoming and supporting the Afghan community in the United States, hosted an event to celebrate Afghan Independence Day.

On September 15, Fairfax County Health Department epidemiologist Dr. René F. Najera gave a presentation at the National Vaccine Law Conference on the history of vaccines with a focus on those forgotten by history who contributed to their development.

That is why in addition to providing information and resources, the Health Department's community health workers take time to talk with people, not just to them. That is why our team is on the scene each day at locations across the community, getting to know people and addressing their concerns.
