It’s the season of giving. Stronger2 and its partners have been busy hosting health literacy events, volunteering, and working to ensure their communities had access to a healthy holiday meal.

Project Giveback Thanksgiving Food Distribution
On November 19, Stronger2 partners Alexandria-Fairfax Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. and Ivy Foundation of Northern Virginia and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Zeta Chi Omega Chapter joined Northern Virginia Project Giveback’s 28th Annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution. Volunteers gathered in the gym at Gum Springs Community Center to pack food boxes with everything needed for a healthy Thanksgiving meal and deliver the boxes to families in need. This year, the Thanksgiving food distribution fed over 600 families in the Northern Virginia region.
Health Literacy Classes and Thanksgiving Meals
Stronger2 partner Fundación Los Niños de Maria, Inc. also incorporated food donations into their work with the community. Niños celebrated the season of giving by providing Thanksgiving meal supplies to families in need after one of their regular health literacy classes at Hybla Valley Community Center.
While the core purpose of Stronger2 is to promote health literacy in communities of color, the Stronger2 team and its partners go beyond this in their work in the community.
