Welcome to Fairfax County Police Department’s online Community Reporting System (CRS). This system allows you to submit police reports online for certain types of incidents that occurred within Fairfax County.
Please note that all cases submitted through the CRS are classified as INACTIVE, meaning they are not assigned to a detective or police officer for further investigation.
Reports are typically reviewed within three business days, excluding weekends, major holidays, and unscheduled government closures. After submitting a report, please monitor your email regularly, including spam and junk folders, as police personnel may contact you for clarification or additional information needed to complete the report.
Please confirm the following before proceeding with an online police report submission:
- This is not an emergency.
- This incident occurred within the Fairfax County jurisdiction.
- I understand online reporting is for documentation purposes only and the case will not be investigated.
- I am 18 years of age or older.
If you answered yes to all the criteria, you are ready to file your report online.

- Destruction of Private Property/Vandalism
- Larceny/Theft from Motor Vehicle or Parts
- Larceny/Theft Under $10,000
- Lost Property
- Suspicious Person/Vehicle
- Solicitor Violations
- Telephone Harassment/Threats
- Trespassing
- Unoccupied Hit and Run Accidents
- Aggressive driving
- Breaking and entering your home or business, completed or attempted.
- Hate/Bias crime
- Incidents occurring within past 30 minutes.
- Larceny by force
- Larceny over $10,000
- Civil Disputes
- Sex crimes, completed or attempted.
- Lost or Stolen license plate(s)
- Stolen prescription drugs/narcotics
- Stolen vehicles, completed or attempted.
- Loss or stolen firearms.
- Violent crimes, completed or attempted

If your incident cannot be reported online, please call our non-emergency number at 703-691-2131 to request than an officer be dispatched to take your report.
Be advised that it is a crime to knowingly make a false police report. Anyone found to have submitted a false report may be prosecuted under the authority of Virginia State Code, Section 18.2-461, and charged with a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500.
