- Crimes that are in progress or have just occurred within Fairfax County should be reported through 911 or the non-emergency line at 703-691-2131
- Crimes involving impersonation of Fairfax County Sheriff's Deputies should be reported to the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office for investigation
- If an officer has already taken a report from you and provided a case number, additional reports regarding the same event should not be filed through FICOR

Be advised that it is a crime to knowingly make a false police report. Anyone found to have submitted a false report may be prosecuted under the authority of Virginia State Code, Section 18.2-461, and charged with a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500.
